Treetops have been busy making some bird feeders using bird seed, lard, dried raisins, dried sweetcorn, sunflower seeds and string.
You can make your own bird food cakes by following the instructions linked on Gardeners World, there is also a helpful video. The best time of year to make these is in the winter, so the lard/fat doesn't melt and coat the bird's feathers in the warmer weather.
There is also a wide variety of information on the RSPB website, linked here, Feed the birds on how to create different bird feeders and the benefits for local wildlife.
There are so many ways we can help our wildlife to thrive, from helping out with a bird bath to building a nest box, RSPB has a bunch of activities with easy-to-follow guides on their Wild Challenge for families' page. It’s worth a look! Wild Challenge for families
