Activity Blog Week Twelve
"Reflecting on our extraordinary school year"
This week we are reflecting on the unique school year of 2019 – 2020.
We started off the year with two amazing performances at the Looked After Children Awards Ceremony, and then the Ormiston School Awards, performing a Taiko Drums group piece, led by Emma Middleton Humber Taiko.
After the performances, we got creative at school with cooking and learnt some new recipes. What an amazing achievement, we are so proud of you all!
We welcomed new faces into the group, showed respect and teamwork.
We also learnt a lot about ourselves and the world around us, with sessions on Disability Awareness, Internet Safety, Money Handling, and so on!
And then. Covid 19 happened. The most unexpected turn of events which was the global pandemic Covid 19. What a whirlwind this academic year has been. Your resilience, positive attitudes, and determination to keep learning, keep active, keep creative and keep positive is inspiring.
This week’s activities are all based on reflection, we are coming towards the end of the academic year, but there is still plenty of time to work on your 2020 goals. Forgotten them? Lets make some Mid Year Goals
Many people lives have changed significantly during Covid 19 and with the restrictions from the Government, so your New Year Goals might not be achievable right now. Make your Mid Year Goals SMART now!
S – Specific (what exactly do you want to do?)
M – Measured (how will you know you’ve achieved what you wanted?)
A – Attainable (What actions will you put in place to make it happen)
R – Relevant (What do these goals mean to you, why do they matter to you?)
T – Time (what’s your timeline to achieve your goals?)
Goal Inspiration time
A member of our team had this goal for 2020.
“One of my goals for 2020 was to be more creative and do more activities that help me relax. My Mid year goal is to improve my watercolour painting, not to sell or display, but just to enjoy the creative process and relax.”
How is she getting on? ……. We think pretty good!
What goals would you like to achieve by the end of 2020? You could learn a new skill, try a new sport, aim for a positive start to school in September, get all your homework done before the weekend, get outside for 30 minutes each day, exercise for 1 hour a day? How ever you want to improve yourself, you can take the small steps to reach your goal, you just have to set yourself up for success.
The next activity is to reflect on your school year, and to create a display, in whatever format you choose, showing the highlights of your school year.
The last activity is to write about ‘now’. This will be one of the most extraordinary school years in history, so make sure you note down how you are feeling, what music you have been listening to, any hobbies of games you’ve been playing, anything you’ve been doing to keep as a memory to look back on in years to come.
Stay Safe, Keep Positive, Achieve Your Goals.
